After 40 years, A Christmas Story finally has a trading card set for fans and collectors to enjoy!

The Details

When it comes to Christmas movies, our family has three “go-to” films. Elf, Christmas Vacation, and the BB gun totin’, pole licking, leg lamp loving classic, A Christmas Story.

To help celebrate the 40th anniversary of the iconic holiday movie, Crytozoic released a set of cards which contains a wide assortment of treasures for collectors to chase. Hobby boxes are still available on eBay. Boxes contain 18 packs with a combination of 5 base and insert cards in each pack. Each box should also contain one autograph and one sketch card.

The base set contains 72 cards featuring a variety of classic scenes from the film. There are four different serial numbered parallels available for each base card:Ice Foil are numbered /40, Prismatic Foil are numbered /25, Brilliance 1/1s and finally, 1/1 Printing Plates.

Inserts

When it comes to insert cards, there are three different sets to collect.

The 9 card “Bookmarks” set falls one out of four packs and is printed on a thicker cardboard stock. It features a variety of images from the film which can be punched out and used as a Christmas ornament. They seem to have a fairly strong market on eBay. There are four parallels for this set which have the same scarcity levels as the base parallels.

Next up is “Quotable Christmas”. These 9 inserts contain a variety of famous quotes from the film. The same four parallels are available for this set.

Finally, the 9 card “Triple Dog Dare” puzzle set combines to form an artistic recreation of the classic line in the film. Once again, four parallels are available for collectors to chase.

The Hits

There are ten different signers in the product whose autographs were used to make 20 different single autograph cards. All the autos are numbered, and there are also blue parallels /5 and red 1/1s. Note that there are only 18 of each parallel as Yano Anaya only has base autos.

Cryptozoic also created a special binder to house your master set which also contains a Ralphie Binder Bonus Card (B1). You can still pick one up on eBay.
